Batman may not like this but bats in the Philippines are eaten boiled or "adobo"-cooked. Some natives say that these bats taste like chicken despite their fearsome appearance. Others find them tasty, especially when boiled in mixed spices but the taste leaves a sharp distinctive flavor in the mouth.

The chocolate-colored, boiled bats are seldom sold in the Philippines streets but in the rural regions where rattan huts are common and mountain animals are less abundant, folks hunt and eat them.
